The Deschutes River Alliance is a non-profit conservation organization founded by individuals, organizations and businesses who are passionate about the lower Deschutes River.
On the Lower Deschutes River, hatch timing has been altered and several aquatic insect populations appear to be in decline. Upon initial investigation, these changes may be due to the recent appearance of a new algae proliferation, not previously documented in the river. The algae are responding, based on expert opinion, to a change in water quality.
The DRA is aggressively and diligently working to determine the nature and extent of the water quality changes as well as the extent of the algae growth and its consequences.
